Philadelphia mass shooting on South Street leaves 3 dead, about a dozen injured

Multiple reports indicate that at least three people were killed and nearly a dozen others were injured in a shooting incident in Philadelphia on Saturday night.

Multiple shooters were found at the scene in South Street just before midnight, with one firing into a crowd of people, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper.Inspector D.F. Pace of the Philadelphia Police Department said that 14 people had been shot, including three who had died.Pace told the Philadelphia Inquirer that "you can imagine there were hundreds of individuals enjoying South Street" when the shooting occurred.

Before running away, the suspect was shot at least once by a Philadelphia police officer, according to the report.Officers shot at the suspect, but it's not clear if the suspect was hit by their own gunfire amid the chaos.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, an employee of the nearby O'Neals Pub, Eric Walsh, who heard gunshots around 11:30 p.m., acted quickly to direct patrons inside and outside the bar to seek safety.

Blood splatters on white sneakers, skinned knees or elbows, and splattered white sneakers were seen on the street, according to the report. In the midst of "chaos," "we were literally just wetting napkins and handing them to people."

Several police officers can be seen in online videos responding to the scene.


A pregnant woman was killed in nine separate shootings in Philadelphia the night before, on Friday and Saturday. In addition to the dead, officials say at least eight others were injured.
According to a report, medical professionals were able to save the baby the woman was carrying. Police are still looking into the circumstances surrounding each incident.
